Sunshine Coast Wedding of Shanice and John
Shanice and John’s The Sebel Pelican Waters Wedding was warm and loving from start to finish. Our first time at this stunning Resort and Spa hidden behind the beautiful Sunshine Coastline, our eyes were open once again to huge range of venues available for Weddings on the Sunshine Coast.
We think the highlight of the day though was the setting of their Ceremony. When they first told us it was going to located at the connecting property to their church, just off a highway, we would be lying if we said we weren’t concerned! Upon arrival, when all we could see was cars parked in a paddock but not a guest in sight, our concerns were NOT going away. But once we followed some late comers towards a pine forest at at the rear of the property, our concerns were washed away. Down a path through the forest, was a small clearing where the groom and guests awaited the bride – it was BEAUTIFUL!
So beautiful that we couldn’t get out of there when it came to photographs with the Bridal Party and Bride and Groom! We loved how the photographs turned out as we worked our magic with this fun and enthusiastic bunch!
Then it was off to the Reception to finish off Shanice and John’s The Sebel Pelican Waters Wedding, where a fun-filled night was had as they celebrated their Wedding day.
Words of Wisdom from the Bride and Groom
Why did you choose to hold your celebration now?
John and I have known each other since we were 14 year old science partners at school. If you asked us back then we would not have thought that 7 years later we’d be husband and wife! We got engaged in 2015 and enjoyed a long engagement while I finished my degree and we saved for our big day.
Finally on July 8th we tied the knot we’d so eagerly been waiting for!
What were your favourite moments of the day?
My favourite moment of our day was walking through the doors in the pine forest and seeing how our vision had come to life at our ceremony. The doors opening and seeing John at the altar was like stepping into our new amazing life together.
What was the most stressful part about planning your wedding?
The most stressful part of our wedding was making sure that the audio was working being so far into the pine forest. We used endless amounts of leads and prayed that the electricity would run all the way through. Prayers were answered!
What were your favourite wedding details (a special venue, a unique dress, a fun cake etc.)?
The ceremony venue was definitely the most unique and special part of our wedding. We chose to have it in a pine forest because we wanted to make it a whimsical and fairy-tale like. Even though it posed a huge DIY challenge, It was so worth it and looked amazing!

Sunlit Studios were absolutely amazing! From our engagement shoot to our wedding day, they were professional and personal the whole way. They were a bride’s dream during such a stressful and busy time!
On our wedding day they were so patient and polite to every single guest. That’s something you so appreciate on the day as it really makes the atmosphere enjoyable for everyone. They also impressed everyone with how swiftly they could get the shot and not disturb what was happening.
Even though we didn’t notice them shooting throughout the day, once we saw the photos it really blew us away. They did not miss a thing! It just goes to show how they work, they captured our day as it was in real life. There was no staging or posing, it was raw and exactly what we wanted!
