Gary and Nathan’s Sunshine Coast Hinterland Wedding
“As queer people, who grew up in the 90s and early 00s, we never thought we would have the privilege of saying ‘I do’ in front of the people who mean the most to us. Our wedding is a celebration of both our love and how extraordinarily life has changed for Queer people in Australia.”
We will always remember this wedding. Not only because it’s the first of many same sex weddings we’ll capture… 
But you could FEEL the love in the air for these two beautiful humans. Like Gary and Nathan said in their speech, their guests were like a mirror, perfectly reflecting back all the love they have for them. To see so much unconditional love, so much acceptance, so much support, all together in one room is just special to witness. We feel honoured you chose us to capture it all, we couldn’t be prouder of Mr and Dr Wood!
Our Q+A with Gary and Nathan
How did your proposal play out?
Gary proposed to Nathan, front row at the Shania Twain concert in Toronto right before his favourite song (after secretly writing to the concert company asking to go up on stage).
What led you to choose your ceremony location? Are there any particular characteristics that make it unique to you?
Gary grew up on the Sunny Coast and has always loved the glasshouse mountains.
What are your favourite wedding details (a special venue, a unique dress, a fun cake etc.)?
The ability to celebrate with our friends and family.
What has been the most stressful part about planning your wedding?
Choosing our first dance songs! Nate wanted Billy Joel (who Gary had barely heard of) and Gary wanted soppy country ballads (or a choreographed dance), but we went with Shania, who we’re both obsessed with (and at whose concert we got engaged at).
Considering your future together, what are you looking forward to the most?
We’re looking forward to building a home for us, our family (including our three pups) and Sunday dinners with friends and family.
