Anna and Kane’s Kingscliff Beach Wedding

Some love stories begin in grand, cinematic moments. Anna and Kane’s began with something far more relatable — a late-night, overflowing laundry emergency💦🫧— and came full circle with a stunning seaside wedding that felt entirely them.

From a wardrobe malfunction (broken zip👗) to the wild oceanside winds, the day unfolded with a few dramatic twists. But just like Kane’s proposal, every moment reflected who they are as a couple: thoughtful, deeply in love, a little dramatic, and completely unforgettable. It was a day that embraced unintended imperfections and turned it into something truly beautiful.

As a Babalou Kingscliff Wedding Photographer, being trusted to capture a story like Anna and Kane’s is everything. Their appreciation, belief, and genuine gratitude — even taking the time to mention us in their speech and share such a heartfelt review — meant more than we can say.

This was a wedding full of love, laughter, and memories that will last far beyond the tide. And honestly? We wouldn’t have changed a thing. 🤍

Q+A with Anna and Kane

Are there any special stories surrounding your engagement, proposal or wedding details that are unique and special to you?

Kane and I met at a wedding and my first thought was “why is this man wearing a suit too big for him?”. I immediately wrote him off and continued about my night. However, this man continued to show up in my life – we ran into each other 3 more separate times, at events around town, before we decided to start speaking. After a week of speaking, my washer broke, and I had to ask if I could come to his house to wash my scrubs for work the next day. I was in such a rush, and it was nearly midnight, I went to his house and loaded the machine. He was so hospitable, making me a hot chocolate and giving me the comfy lounge to sit on. We sat and chatted for hours, and then I went to check the washing, only to find out that the machine had flooded his entire dining room and laundry! I expected him to yell but all he did was laugh, and together we cleaned it up. After that, we were inseparable, spending every day loving each other ever since. And I must say, there is no one I would rather share life’s messes with, no one I would rather laugh with through the chaos, and no one I would rather call my home. After 2 years together, Kane decided to propose. He spent months working with a jeweller to make the perfect ring and then planned the proposal so meticulously, with the help of all of our friends. He even managed to get my best friend to act her heart out with tearful stories to keep me at dinner until the moment was right. When I arrived at the location, the path was laced with candles leading to a gazebo where he had hung photos of us, scattered the ground in flowers, and played our favourite song. My heart was racing as I walked toward him, and when he asked me to marry him, I was overwhelmed with joy – not only because I was saying yes to the love of my life, but because he had thought of every detail, right down to making my ring exactly in my image. It was the perfect reflection of us: thoughtful, full of love, a little dramatic, and completely unforgettable. And now, I cannot wait to spend forever building this beautiful, joy-filled life together.

What are your favourite wedding details (a special venue, a unique dress, a fun cake etc.)?

Unique, dramatic dress, amazing handcrafted suit (kane), our amazing flowers, all the little details around our ceremony and venue that has taken hard work, and the craftmanship that my father has put into making the most amazing decor at my wedding and reception (wedding arbour, phonebooth, plinths and cake stand, backdrops and welcome signage)

When I started writing these vows, I always thought back to how we first met all those years ago: you, the maid of honour at a wedding, and I, the guest with the oversized suit. When we interacted, it was just in passing, but I could feel some sort of connection in that I knew I would see this girl again. Every time I was back in Toowoomba, we kept bumping into each other at random, until one day Brandon asked you to come over to hang out at my house, to relax after you had undergone surgery. When you walked through the door, I remember you talking about how good of a sleep you had when they put you under for surgery and that your tummy was sore. After this interaction with you, I just knew that this was someone that I would like to get closer to.

Not long after, I remember getting a phone call late at night asking if you could borrow my washing machine because yours had broken down. Of course, I said yes and let you come over. That night, we talked each other’s ears off, talking about the most random topics. During this time, it became clear that in getting to know you, I knew deep down that you were it, you were my soulmate that I have been searching for to come into my life, even when you flooded my laundry at 2am in the morning. Looking back at this moment in time, I can safely say I found my ray of sunshine, and everything you have done makes me the proudest person in the world, and I am so grateful to you. I could say more, but I will sum it up in one single sentence: I have never been so sure of spending the rest of my life with you, my beautiful wife.

Anna, I make these vows to support you through any hardships we come against, no matter how big or small. That includes reminding you to drink water. I will stand as a shield to defend you whenever things get tough, through thick or thin. Whenever you get cold and sick, I’ll be the one to look after you and keep you warm to the best of my abilities, like the ‘hot water bottle’ I am. I promise that no matter what, I will stay beside you every step of the way, even after we grow old and you need to ‘dress me up in jammies’. But most importantly, I vow that the love I have for you will always grow, like flames dancing in the wind, always full of passion and grace, endlessly burning brighter the more my love for you grows.

Kane, from the moment you came into my life, everything changed. The world grew brighter, lighter, and full of colour. I never imagined I would find someone like you, and yet here you stand – my greatest gift and my truest blessing. You have carried me through my darkest days with unwavering strength and kindness. When my body has been weak, you have been strong for me. When my mind has felt heavy, you have been my calm. You have seen every part of me – the messy, the fragile, the uncertain – and you’ve met it all with patience, understanding, and love.

You don’t just stand beside me, you hold me up, so I always feel safe, protected, and cherished. You are gentle and kind, yet strong enough to keep us going in the toughest of times. Your heart is the place I will always return to, and your love is the light that steadies me when I lose my way. Because of you, I know what it means to be truly seen, truly cared for, and truly loved.

And just as “A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.” With you, with me, and with God at the centre of our marriage, our love will never fail. And as we walk this path together, I know our love will only deepen, because it is held not just in our hands but in His. Your love is my greatest blessing, and with every breath I will honour it, protect it, and cherish it.

Today, I vow to love you with the same devotion you have always shown me. I vow to continue to build our love on a foundation that cannot be shaken – for as the bible reminds us, “Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.” And that is the kind of love I aspire for us to have, now and into the future.

I vow to celebrate your joys and shoulder your burdens, to honour your dreams and walk beside you in every season of life. I vow to treasure not only the extraordinary moments, but the simple, ordinary ones – the laughter in our home, the quiet evenings spent together, the way your hand finds mine without a word. I vow to treasure our Saturday mornings spent over coffee, where it’s just you and me, starting our day together in the most ordinary, yet extraordinary way.

I vow to hold close those quiet pauses, those daily rituals that become the rhythm of our life, because they are the heartbeat of our love. Kane, my life is brighter with you, my heart is fuller with you, and my soul is stronger with you. Today, I choose you – without hesitation, without doubt, and without end. Always and forever, I am yours.
