Like a scene out of a heart-warming romantic movie, Chris and Tegan both worked at the same bookstore at different times. When they met, they connected over their love of books! Talk about serendipity 🥹
They incorporated this sweet part of their relationship into their wedding decor with book themed favours for their guests and the most amazing and perfectly unique book arbour to exchange their vows under. We think this is our favourite Wedding arch EVER! 😍

Q+A with Tegan and Chris
Are there any special stories surrounding your engagement, proposal or wedding details that are unique and special to you?
We both worked in the same bookstore at different times and how we bonded at the start of our relationship was through books as well. We will hopefully have a wedding arch made out of books and little books as wedding favours.
What are your favourite wedding details?
I have encorporated a lot of sparkly elements in my wear (which I love), as above, book theme is heavy, and we are having a donut cake just like my parents did at their wedding. We also will have a memorial table for those that couldn’t be there in person and a wishing well that has been passed down from my pop.
How was your Wedding Day experience?
Absolutely amazing. Everything went smoothly and mostly on time for everything. It felt like such a magical day and like a fairytale.
Your favourite moment of the day was and what you were thinking at that time?
Tegan – I loved sitting on the mountain and pausing to watch the sunset with Chris. To take a moment to breath in and say we are married and Husband and Wife. I felt so loved and warm then. Chris – In the same spot, on the lookout, was thinking about our date spot at Mt Cootha and how full circle this moment felt.
Favourite part of your or your spouses vows or speech?
Tegan – I loved that he actually used a pun for his surname. Every time I mentioned it and that I was going to, he would do a little eye roll and laugh and say on 10 years I’d be over it. It made me laugh and the nerves slow down and to actually be able to enjoy the moment. Chris – “I love you with my whole heart and words do not do it justice. We will ride this crazy coaster through every storm. Aren’t you proud I did only one storm pun. I love you so much. My soul mate, my best friend, and soon my husband.” I love it that is shows her goofy sense of humour, her love for me, and perfectly expresses our commitment to each other and holding up the vows.
Was there a special moment of connection you experienced with any of your guests, family or friends?
Tegan – I was emotional the moment I stepped on the path to walk down to Chris. I had so much love in my heart, and I was struggling to keep it contained before he even saw me. Everyone after the ceremony told me that they were equally emotional over our vows and the clear love we had for each other. It made me feel loved and supported by everyone that attended. Chris – Having Jonny there supporting me whilst I was waiting for Tegan to walk down the aisle.
Considering your future together, what are you looking forward to the most?
Growing and learning about each other more every day. Finding new experiences to challenge ourselves. Finally going on our honeymoon. And when we are very elderly getting mad at people for walking too slow (when we are most likely culprits too).
What are your favourite wedding details (the venue, a unique dress, a fun cake etc.)?
The venue and the fairy lights were magical. Our book arch and book favours really captured our love for reading and the early part of our meet-cute. The untraditional cake – the donut tower and how cute and perfect it looked, even if it was hard to cut. Changing the bridesmaids’ dresses three days out because they perfectly matched my dress and theme.

I admire how you immerse yourself in your passions, whether it’s conquering a challenging bouldering route or strategising in a chess game. Your enthusiasm and dedication are nothing short of inspiring. I cherish how we continue to learn more about each other and I am looking forward to the next chapters in our lives. Today I am making you promises that will last our lifetime and beyond. I promise to encourage you and inspire you and to always have your back. To love you truly through the good times and comfort you through the bad. I promise to be a safe space where you can be yourself. I will forever be there to laugh with you and to lift you up when you are down. I promise to love you unconditionally through all our adventures in life. But mainly I promise to always leave the spider killing to you…thanks. I promise to support you in your dreams and always be by your side. I promise to be your strength and voice when you need it and step aside when you don’t. I promise to always be open and honest with you and build on our communication. I promise to slow down every video game we play because I have to hoard everything. But above all the promises today, I promise to love you, forever and always, to the moon and beyond. I remember the first time we met, how I felt an instant connection that I couldn’t quite explain. It was as if we’d known each other our whole lives. From that moment, I knew there was something about you, something that made me want to know you better, to share my life with you. To love you. As we stand here together, I can’t help but think back to the many beautiful moments that helped guide us to this day. Every DIY project, every impromptu adventure, and all the quiet evenings spent tucked up with a good book. For every up and every down, through all of it you’ve always carried the love and patience to see and understand me, to fully experience everything life has to offer, together. Tegan, you’re the love of my life, my home and my soulmate. You’re my reason for waking and the strength that keeps me going. In you I have found the kindest person I will ever know, my truest friend and the most beautiful woman I have ever seen. With your passion and your bravery you’ve slain my demons and quieted my soul. When I think on the future there’s no one else I wish to have by my side. So it is with this that I promise to love you unconditionally, through every high and every low. I vow to support your dreams and to celebrate your victories as if they were my own. I will stand by you in times of grief and in times of joy. I will give you strength as you give me strength. I promise to be there for you no matter what and no matter when. I vow to always be honest and faithful, to cherish and respect you, and to grow with you as we make this journey together. I promise to listen with my heart open, to speak with kindness and understanding, even when it’s hard. From this day forward, I promise to be your guiding light when the path is dark, your rock when the world feels unsteady, your shelter in the storm, and your home when you feel lost.
