Flaxton Gardens Wedding Photos with Lorelei and Julien are stunning to look at! We really were excited about blogging their special day. We particularly loved the beautiful gown worn by Lorelei (and matching jacket) – made completely by Lorelei’s mother. What talent! What love!!
We first met Lorelei and Julien at the Hinterland Summer Showcase in the summer of 2019. We attend this Wedding Expo event every year, as we love to promote the stunning venues in the Sunshine Coast Hinterland area. Flaxton Gardens in amoung our personal favourites!
Our meeting lead to them entering and winning an Engagement Shoot competition with Sunlit Studios. They were a little shy in front of the camera at first, but after only a short time working with Cameron, they became our newest hot models! That fun experience, and the resulting amazing photographs, led them to book Sunlit Studios for their Wedding Photography and Videography.
What did the couple have to say…
As we looked back at the Wedding day, we asked Lorelei and Julien for their thoughts into their day:
What led you to choose your ceremony location? Are there any particular characteristics that make it unique to you?
We went to the Hinterland wedding showcase in January 2019 and fell in love with Flaxton Gardens as soon as we arrived. The view is so beautiful and we loved the gardens as well as the barrel room where our reception is.
What are your favourite wedding details (a special venue, a unique dress, a fun cake etc.)?
For Lorelei – definitely my dress, which has been made by my mum. She made her wedding dress and it is really special that she has made mine as well. I also love that I’m making the cake and the table decor myself. I feel that it adds a personal touch that I can make the decor really reflective of us (we are massive book nerds so the decor is some fancy old books stacked on the tables!). Our first dance song is also very special to us.
What has been the most stressful part about planning your wedding?
Definitely COVID-19! It was very uncertain for a while about whether we could go ahead on our original date, and contacting all our family and friends to let them know we had to reschedule was hard. But it has turned out well in the end and we are very grateful to all the support we’ve had.
Considering your future together, what are you looking forward to the most?
Julien says “sharing the cooking”! But seriously, he says having someone to share our lives with and travel along on our life journeys together. Lorelei says waking up to my favourite person every morning who always brightens my day with his smiles, joking and intelligent conversations.
What role do your family and friends play in your life as a couple?
We are forever thankful for our family and friends for providing us with love and support as we enter this next stage of our lives.
Top 3 Tips for other brides?
1) Don’t try to please everyone, 2) If you can, DIY some things – it has been a lot of fun and helped me reconnect with my creative side, 3) Don’t get caught up in doing things just because of ‘tradition’ if you’re not really into them. It’s your day, so do the things that make you happy!
